Sri Lankan Pport, Australian student visa, is a Transit without visa possible for 4 days in malaysia?

I'm a student in australia and I will be travelling to srilanka in december. I have arranged my tickets such that I can stay back for 4 days in Malaysia. Im aware that a transit p can be obtained if the duration is for less than 120 hours, with a ticket to the 3rd destination. however, someone told me that I need to fly air asia or malaysian airlines inorder to get this p. Im flying srilankan airlines. will i still be able to get the p??
