Why has the genres of music changed over the years?

Because journalists and media people have been slowly sucking the life out of all that is good by inventing a category for every new big thing that comes along.Unfortunately the music buying public has been weened into accepting all that is printed/reported as fact.Bands are just as responsible.We need to revolt-2categories for all music- ROCK or NOT. \m/
