" i got too much going on in my life right now" what does this mean? please help me?

ok i had planned on telling this boy my true feelings....but before i could tell him....he said " i got to much going on in my life right now" and " i need to get my life together" im in college and he says he wants me to stay here and do something with my life.... and not come home and do nothing and be a statistic.....does this mean he atleast cares about me??.....(p.s...i told him i was thinking about coming home from college)do u think i should give him some space before i tell him my feelings? help me out please....
